Originally published January 14, 2022. Updated October 30, 2026. Photos and video document our January 2022 visit.
Whether you’re visiting Huntsville or exploring the area before a move, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a memorable place to get acquainted with the Rocket City. Rockets, space artifacts, and museum exhibits bring Huntsville’s connection to space exploration into view.
Here are highlights from our original visit, along with updated planning notes. Exhibits, programs, and outdoor access can change, so check the museum’s website before heading out.
Changing exhibits
Traveling exhibits give returning visitors something new to explore. The colorful display in our photograph was part of our January 2022 visit; check the current lineup rather than expecting that particular exhibit to remain available.

Military history
Our original visit included the Team Redstone exhibit. Military hardware adds another dimension to a museum visit, alongside the rockets and space exploration displays.

International Space Station: Science on Orbit
Full-scale mockups of International Space Station modules introduce visitors to the places where astronauts live and work. It’s a chance to think beyond the launch and consider everyday life in orbit.

Davidson Center for Space Exploration
The authentic Saturn V displayed inside the Davidson Center is a National Historic Landmark. Give yourself time to take in its scale and explore the surrounding space history displays.

Theater experiences
Our earlier visit included the National Geographic Theater, shown in our photograph. Check the museum’s current program for available screenings and ticket requirements when planning your day.

INTUITIVE Planetarium
The INTUITIVE Planetarium offers astronomy programming that can be another highlight of a visit. Review the current daytime shows and ticket options before choosing your schedule.

The outdoor Saturn V landmark
The towering rocket in our outdoor photograph is a replica. The authentic Saturn V is inside the Davidson Center. They’re different displays, and both help convey the scale of the Apollo program.

Pathfinder and Shuttle Park
Our Pathfinder photograph captures the vehicle during restoration in January 2022.
As of this article’s October 2026 update, the museum advises that foot access around the Pathfinder Shuttle Stack is closed during improvements to the surrounding grounds. Check the museum’s access updates before visiting.

Lunar Crater
The lunar lander model and flag in our photograph bring a Moon landing scene down to ground level. This was another outdoor stop during our original visit.

Moon Shot and G-Force Accelerator
These simulators offer another way to experience the museum. Availability and rider restrictions apply, so check the posted requirements before joining the line.

Plan your visit
Before you go, review the museum’s current admission and hours, attraction updates, and planetarium schedule. Confirm which experiences your tickets include.
For a family outing, choose the exhibits that interest your group most and plan around any scheduled shows. Keep outdoor conditions in mind when deciding what to visit first.
